Based on true events, 21 is a 2008 crime thriller directed by Robert Luketic and starring Jim Sturgess as Ben Campbell, a brilliant MIT student struggling to secure his future. When Ben joins a secretive group of mathematically gifted peers led by a charismatic professor played by Kevin Spacey, he learns card-counting techniques that allow the team to win millions at Las Vegas casinos. As the students balance their ordinary weekday lives with exhilarating weekend trips to Sin City, Ben finds himself drawn into the high-stakes world alongside fellow counter Kate Bosworth, yet increasingly conflicted about the moral implications of their scheme. The film explores the tension between ambition and ethics as casino security closes in on the operation.
