Sergei Rachmaninov recorded his own piano compositions between 1919 and 1929 using the Ampico player-piano system, capturing his personal interpretations of his most celebrated works. This 1990 Decca release preserves those historical recordings, featuring pieces including the Prelude in C Sharp Minor, Elegie in E Flat Minor, Barcarolle in G Minor, and selections from Opp. 10 and 23.

The CD contains eight tracks of chamber piano music, with a total runtime of approximately 30 minutes. Sourced from the original Ampico recordings and released on the Decca label, this collection offers a rare glimpse into how the composer himself performed his own music.
