Love Don’t Cost a Thing is a 2003 teen comedy-drama directed by Troy Beyer and written by Michael Swerdlick and Troy Byer. The film stars Al Thompson as Alvin Johnson, a high school outcast who strikes an unusual bargain with Paris Morgan, the school’s most popular girl played by Christina Milian. When Paris damages her mother’s car, Alvin agrees to repair it in exchange for Paris pretending to be his girlfriend. As Paris transforms Alvin’s appearance and social standing, he undergoes a troubling personality change, becoming arrogant and insensitive. The story follows whether Alvin can regain his integrity before damaging his friendships, his scholarship prospects, and any chance at a genuine connection with Paris.
