When the blockbuster British series Upstairs, Downstairs ended in 1975, the world wanted more. Starring real-life couple John Alderton (Little Dorrit, Calendar Girls) and Oscar® nominee Pauline Collins (Shirley Valentine), Thomas & Sarah reunited fans with two of the series’ most colorful characters: the wily chauffeur and the sassy cockney parlor maid.

No longer in service, Thomas and Sarah have left Eaton Place for a new life on their own. When the series begins, the pair have split up: she works as a companion to a wealthy woman, while he’s a poor mechanic wanting to become a car salesman. Then Thomas goes in search of Sarah, hoping to win her back and advance his own ambitions. The two opportunists embark on adventures of smuggling, matchmaking, magic, cons, and the ups and downs of their own star-crossed romance. Featuring guest appearances by Anton Rodgers (Fresh Fields) and Nigel Hawthorne (The Madness of King George).
