Jeremy Brett stars as Sherlock Holmes in this pair of Granada Television adaptations from the 1980s. “The Empty House” follows Holmes’s dramatic return to London after his apparent death at the hands of Professor Moriarty, a revelation that shocks his longtime companion Dr. Watson (Edward Hardwicke) into fainting. Holmes must confront one of Moriarty’s most dangerous associates still at large in the city. In “The Abbey Grange,” Holmes and Watson are called to investigate the brutal murder of Sir Eustace Brackenstall, which initially appears to be the work of local thieves but proves far more intricate, leading Holmes to make a rare and deeply personal judgment about justice.

This DVD contains both episodes on a single disc, running seven hours total, and carries a TV-PG rating. Released by MPI Media Group, the collection features the strong chemistry between Brett and Hardwicke, with Rosalie Williams appearing as Mrs. Hudson.
