Description
About the Artist Stefan Bauer’s prowess on the vibraphone was quickly recognized by Canadian jazz audiences and musicians after he established residency in Canada in 1990, moving from Germany, where he still continues to play today. His double-mallet technique has garnered him acclaim as one of the leading new vibes players in the world. He has four CD’s out under his own name, and has recorded with the likes of Klaus Konig, WDR Big Band, Vienna Art Orchestra, Uli Beckerhoff, Greg Lowe, Knut Haugsoen and Christoph Haberer. His “Best of Two World” was nominated for the Canadian Juno Award for best jazz recording in 1997. He has played at jazz festivals and has toured throughout the world. Laurent Roy is one of Canada’s most versatile guitarists: from country to R&B to disco to French folk music to rock to travelling musicals he’s done it all. But it is as a jazz guitarist that he has gained most recognition. His recording with pianist Marilyn Lernerin 1992 A Quarter To Three (Justin Time) was a breakthrough project in Canada. Roy has also teamed up with sultry jazz singer, Jennifer Hanson, to produce and arrange her “Something Cool” CD and to tour in 1998. He first teamed up with Stefan Bauer in 1991 in True Stories, then later they formed the duo Joint Adventure with its interesting concept of guitar and vibes. A successful European tour followed in 1995.
